This site sets no cookies today.
Not "only essential ones". None, right now. That is why you did not get a banner asking you to accept anything. That is about to change: we are moving to Vercel and expect to turn on analytics, so read the section on what is coming before you rely on the rest of this page.
The things this site does not have.
No analytics
No Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Fathom, nothing. We genuinely cannot tell you how many people visited yesterday, because we do not measure it.
No advertising or pixels
No Meta pixel, no retargeting tags, no ad network. Nothing here follows you to another website, because there is nothing here doing the following.
No consent banner
Not because we found a clever way around one. With no cookies and no tracking there is nothing for you to consent to, and a banner asking permission for nothing is just a box in your way. If we ever add something that needs consent, you will get a real choice rather than a pre-ticked box.
The tour, for as long as it is open.
The interactive tour runs a working prototype of the Kwirkz app, so you can tap through it properly rather than look at pictures. Saving an event or joining a group in there has to be remembered somewhere while you are using it.
That happens in memory, for that visit only. The prototype is deliberately blocked from writing anything to your browser's storage, so closing the tab throws it away and nothing is left behind on your device. It is a demonstration, not an account.
The waitlist form keeps nothing on your device either. It sends what you typed to us and holds no local copy, so there is nothing on your machine to clear afterwards. What happens to it once it reaches us is covered in the privacy policy.
Three companies see your IP address.
No cookies does not mean nothing leaves your browser. Loading any web page involves other servers, and these are the only three involved here.
| Who | When | What they receive | Avoidable |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Fonts | Every page load | Your IP address, and the browser and device type, because the typefaces are served from Google. | Not without turning off web fonts in your browser. |
| BigDataCloud | Only if you press Detect | Your precise latitude and longitude, to turn it into a city and ZIP. This is the most sensitive thing that happens anywhere on this site. | Yes. Type your city instead, or leave it blank. |
| OpenStreetMap | Contact page only | Your IP address, because the map is embedded from them. The map shows our partner venue, not you. | Yes. No other page loads a map. |
Links are not embeds. We link out to PayPal, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Google Maps. Those companies learn nothing about you unless you actually click through, and once you do you are on their site under their rules and their cookies, not ours.
We are moving to Vercel, and adding analytics.
This site is being moved to Vercel, and we expect to turn on their analytics so we can see which pages families actually use and which ones are being ignored. We would rather tell you that here now than change it quietly later.
What we will use it for: counting page visits, so we know whether the waitlist page is working and whether anybody is finding the events. Nothing more than that.
What we will not do: advertising, retargeting, selling anything to anyone, or building a profile of you across other websites. That is not a thing we are interested in and it is not what analytics is for here.
This page gets rewritten before that goes live, not after. If the tool we use turns out to set a cookie, this page will say so and you will get a real consent choice. If it does not, we will say that instead and show our working. Either way the sentence at the top of this page will be true on the day you read it.
We will keep this page honest.
If we ever add anything that sets a cookie or measures you, this page changes first and we will tell the waitlist rather than quietly editing it and hoping nobody reads it.
